I've been in the software business for over 20 years. I was a developer for the first part of my career but for the last 10 years or so I've been more focused on management and business development. Although my career may have evolved more to higher-level decisions about software than writing code, I've never left my coding roots behind. When it wasn't required for work, I've done it as a hobby. That leads to what I intend to blog most about, any aspect of software development that I'm currently interested in. Lately I've been mainly interested in Ruby and related technologies so I expect that to be the prevalent subject for while.
I have a couple of reasons for creating a blog. First, I've gained a lot of research value from other blogs on the Internet and I'd like to give something back. Ah, but my motives aren't completely altruistic. To a large extent I intend my blogs to be for myself. I've often wished I'd kept better notes on things I've researched or developed. Hopefully the blog will help serve that purpose too.
